Tiger Hoops is a youth basketball program for girls in the Hastings Public Schools grades 2-8. We run a clinic in the fall and try to help girls find teams to play on during the winter. We also try to visit the elementary schools for mini-clinics during the winter/spring. The program is led by Greg Mays, head girls basketball coach at Hastings High. The program’s mission is to provide fun and fundamental basketball experiences to Hastings girls and prepare those interested for opportunities to play at the high school level.
Coach Mays will meet with parents in the commons area of Hastings Middle School to discuss the organization and details of youth basketball. We will talk about the mission of Hastings Tiger Hoops, the varied opportunities available for girls to play basketball in Hastings, and answer questions for parents. At the end of the meeting we will try to put parents together by grade level to help families connect with a team that works for their daughter.
Clinic dates and times (all at Hastings Middle School):
2-3-4-5-6 graders
Sunday Oct 11 1-3 pm (parent meeting at 230p while girls finish clinic)
Sunday Oct 18 1-3pm
The Fall Clinic is FREE for all HPS girls. (A free-will donation to the basketball program is accepted at clinic.) Our clinic concentrates on basketball, especially dribbling, passing and shooting. Girls can attend any sessions that work into their schedules.
